Hungarian Chapter of E-AHPBA
Dear E-AHPBA Members,
Hungarian Chapter of E-AHPBA was established in 2021, based on the previously formed national association, the “Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) Surgical Research Centre of Hungary”, which is an honoured part of the Hungarian Surgical Association and includes more than 40 members. In Hungary (populations: around 10 million people) HPB surgery is performed at 4 university clinics and at a few, nevertheless progressively increasing countryside hospitals. More than 500 pancreatic resections and almost 1200 hepatectomy are performed yearly by the main surgical centres. In addition, Hungary is a member of the Euro transplant program, with more than 80 liver transplants yearly.
Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) Surgical Research Centre Hungary was established in 2015.The aim of the association is to promote and coordinate clinical research and educational programs among HPB surgeons in Hungary. Since 2015, several regional and international conferences were organized by the working groups, including the “11th European Digestive Surgery Postgraduate Course” (2017), the “Complex treatment of colorectal liver metastases – Hungarian consensus conference” (2019) and the “Complex treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma – Hungarian consensus conference” (2021).
In addition, the working group has a substantial activity in translational and clinical research as well, focusing especially on liver and pancreas surgery.
We hope the Hungarian Chapter will contribute to the society of E-AHPBA intensively.
Sincerely,
Prof. Attila Szijártó, On behalf of the Hungarian Chapter.
