E-AHPBA Announces Strategic Partnership with Olympus to Advance Mentorship in HPB Surgery
The European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA) is proud to announce a strategic-level partnership with Olympus, a global medical technology company. This collaboration represents a significant commitment to the advancement of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery, with a primary focus on supporting the E-AHPBA Mentorship Programme.
As a strategic partner, Olympus will play a pivotal role in empowering the next generation of HPB surgeons by enhancing mentorship opportunities, fostering professional development, and advancing surgical education. The E-AHPBA Mentorship Programme is designed to connect emerging surgeons with experienced leaders in the field, ensuring the continuous growth of surgical expertise and innovation.
“We are delighted to welcome Olympus as a strategic partner in our mission to support our members and the HPB community,” said Professor Marc Besselink, President of E-AHPBA. “This partnership will significantly strengthen our mentorship initiatives, providing early career surgeons with invaluable guidance and support from notable HPB specialists within our region.”
“Olympus has always put great emphasis on the education and training of healthcare professionals at various stages of their careers. It has therefore been a privilege to support the EAHPBA in their mentoring programme for HPB surgery,” said Annalena van der Weck, Olympus EMEA Group Leader Surgical Endoscopy. “In our role as a strategic partner for this programme, we will place a strong focus on the group’s annual F2F meetings to facilitate interactive and gratifying discussions.”
The E-AHPBA have successfully completed a pilot version of the Mentorship Programme, which received highly positive feedback from participants and was perceived by E-AHPBA and Olympus as successful. Now with the support of Olympus, the E-AHPBA Mentorship Programme is now launching its second edition. This comprehensive programme features a structured curriculum, including training and personalised one-to-one mentorship for early-career surgeons, focusing on both professional development and personal growth as an HPB practitioner.
